Traditional wooden architecture - Bogoslovka manor complex
Bogoslovka manor complex with beautiful Pokrovskaya churсh is just in 40 minutes from the very center of Saint-Petersburg. It is closer than Peterhof with its gold and fountains, and closer than Pushkin with Amber room and gold. Here you can refresh your feelings and find rest for your soul - it is nature and wood and old Russia you can see and feel there. It is reconstruction of old russian wooden buildings. The main attraction - reconstruction of Pokrovskay church which was built in 1708 and designed by Peter the Great and which became the prototype for famous church in Kizhi Pogost in Karelia. The original Pokrovskaya church was located in modern Vologodskaya region and burnt in 1963.
The church is open daily from 10 am till 5 pm and from 10 am till 7 pm on weekends and holidays. Ladies should keep in mind that they have to cover the head and have a kind of a midi skirt, not mini and no jeans or trousers. If you don't have anything to cover the head and the hips you can borrow a scarf which you can find next to the entrance. It is easier with gentlemen - you should take the hats off and should wear long trousers or jeans and not shorts. You can take pictures outside, to do it inside you have to get a permission and to pay some money, usually it is just 50 rubles, which is actually nothing. You can notice that the church is arranged as it was in old churches of Russia, long ago - the candles we have to put in sand, and the inconstant is made of wood.
You can also have a look inside the chapel there you cannot take pictures by any means.
